Breaking Down the Ballot for Local Voters

Voting is something I care deeply about, both personally and professionally. Over four election cycles, I’ve supported get-out-the-vote efforts for the LGBTQ+ community, and in my day-to-day work I help share election resources that make voting more accessible and less overwhelming.

In this Seattle Channel newsletter, I helped package key voter information into a clear, engaging format. The piece directed readers to Seattle Channel’s Video Voters’ Guide, election coverage from the station’s public affairs program, and essential King County Elections tools such as ballot tracking, registration help, replacement ballots, vote centers, and drop box information. The goal was simple — give voters trustworthy information in bite-sized pieces so they can make informed decisions at the ballot box.

Sharing Seattle Channel’s Emmy Wins Through Fast, Strategic Storytelling

When Seattle Channel won three Northwest Regional Emmy Awards in June 2024, I helped turn that milestone into a timely, public-facing story that celebrated the team’s work and underscored the value of municipal media. The press release blog post highlighted awards for public affairs, human interest short-form content, and video essayist, while also recognizing Seattle Channel’s broader impact as a civic storytelling outlet.

Because we had prepared in advance and gathered leadership quotes early, I was able to help share the news quickly after the awards were announced. The story paired celebration with context, noting Seattle Channel’s 15 Emmy nominations, competition against commercial and public TV stations across the Northwest, and wins spanning a fentanyl crisis documentary and an Art Zone feature.
