Video Storytelling
From hammer to heel, the story behind Leolo's bespoke shoe craftsmanship
I came across this story while wandering through one of my favorite parts of Seattle, Pike Place Market, and it immediately drew me in. Inside Leolo, a handmade shoe and leather goods shop, I found not just beautiful craftsmanship, but a touching story about three generations of women working side by side to create something lasting and deeply personal. I made this video in collaboration with my colleague Vince Pierce. Together, we took viewers inside Leolo’s cozy workshop to explore the intricate process behind their bespoke shoes and how the business became a family tradition.
Seattle's cinematic golden age
As a ’90s kid and proud Seattle booster, I’m often asked about the best movies made in the city. That question got me wondering whether there was any better era for Seattle on film, and the answer felt pretty clear: Hollywood was especially fascinated with the Emerald City in the 1990s. The video did particularly well on TikTok, where commenters got nostalgic and chimed in with some of their favorite Seattle films.
The rise & fall of Seattle's largest amusement park
I love Seattle history, so this story was especially fun to work on. With HistoryLink and my colleague Vincent Pierce, I made a trip to the Shoreline Historical Museum and got wonderfully lost in its Playland photo archive, knowing those images would help bring the story to life. The video looks back at the rise and fall of Playland, the once-popular Bitter Lake amusement park, and it went on to become one of my most popular TikTok videos with more than 150,000 views.
